Additional Needs Support Worker

Based at: YMCA White House, Hampton
Hours of Work:  Fixed term wef February 2017-23 February 2018,
– Youth Work Holiday Playscheme (2 days per week)
– Inclusive Lives Term Time Adult Life Skills Courses (1-2 days per week)
Hourly Salary: £10.30 per hour
Closing date: Midday on Tuesday 17 January 2017

We are seeking an Additional Needs Support Worker to be a part of the Youth Work and Inclusive Lives staff teams. Within Youth Work you will provide direct support to two children/young people with Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD), ensuring the children and young people are supported to engage in the MLD holiday provision whatever their individual needs, and that these needs are met in their setting.  Within Inclusive Lives you will provide support for adults attending a 6-week life skills term time course, helping them to engage in the class and assist completing course tasks.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working and providing support to children, young people and/or adults with Moderate Learning Disabilities; experience of supporting people with additional and sometimes complex needs; knowledge of child and adolescent development and key stages.  It is essential to hold an NVQ Qualification in Playwork, Youth Work or equivalent and knowledge of health and safety including risk assessments.

This role is subject to safeguarding checks including a DBS check in line with YMCA LSW procedures.  YMCA LSW is a Christian organisation and as an employee, you will be required to respect the Christian ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values.
