Hours of Work: (This is a fixed term contract up to 16 September 2016). 40 hours per week, worked over 7 days, on a shift basis.
Annual Salary: £25,000.00 per year

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef at YMCA Surbiton. We are seeking a distinctive individual who can maximise income and customer satisfaction within the restaurant and other Canteen areas, by preparing and cooking high quality food. The Catering Department at YMCA Surbiton falls under the YMCA brand of Health and Wellbeing and is quite unique delivering a number of catering services which include cooking for residents and delivering a café style service to the public. The department continues to develop its healthy cooking strategy and strives to support people to understand the benefits of healthy eating.
We expect our Head Chef to work to a high standard to guarantee a consistent and excellent standard of catering service within YMCA Surbiton. Can you see yourself being responsible for a team ensuring the smooth running of all catering services, kitchen and front of house procedures are up to date and being followed to include the ‘Safer Food Better Business for Caterers’ standards, as well as leading on the recruitment, induction and development of all catering staff?
Our Head Chef should have knowledge of special diets and food allergies as well planning healthy menus and experience of working in the catering industry and managing staff. It is essential for candidates to be able to cook to a high standard and provide direction and on the job training to other staff. This role is subject to safeguarding checks including a Disclosure Barring Service check in line with YMCALSW procedures.
