The Association is the largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for around 1,200 residents each night. As well as accommodation, care homes, education and training, the Association is focused on the transformation of communities through its Health and Wellbeing Centres, children, youth and family programmes including nurseries, after school clubs and soft play centres.
The Role
This role is based at our YMCA in Wimbledon, reporting to the Resident Support and Accommodation Manager. The post holder will be expected to provide a Support Broker service addressing residents’ support needs, signposting them to agencies and encouraging them to acquire skills to move into more independent living as well as being responsible for new referrals, move-ins and inductions to ensure residents receive an exceptionally good customer service experience.
Ideally, we are looking for a person with previous experience in a similar role and who will bring energy, passion and commitment to this position. An understanding of the social housing/charity sector is essential.
Some duties include:
- Acting as a key worker for a case load of around 30 support residents
- Developing and maintaining contacts with referral and support agencies
- Interviewing applicants for accommodation, carrying out risk assessments and inducting successful applicants
- Offering general advice and emotional support to residents
- Working with the ‘Resident Pathway’ framework, creating an appropriate individual support plan for each resident
- Developing individual needs assessments and drawing up personal SMART action plans
Applicants should possess experience of working in a similar, management role at a similar level of responsibility; possess good communication and relationship management skills; have experience of dealing with vulnerable groups and security issues associated with a residential setting; have experience of working face to face with homeless people; have an understanding of confidentiality in a support setting.
